January Featured Artist-Suzanne LeBeau at Linebaugh Library

Union

Tennessee artist Suzanne LeBeau is known locally as a muralist. She has been an elementary school teacher for most of her adult life, but recently has felt a calling to get back to her creative side. She took up faux finishing about 4 years ago and specializes in metallic finishes, plasters, and murals. Lately, she has taken those skills and applied them to the canvas.
“I get so many ideas –usually late at night- that I can’t get them all out fast enough. Some of them are kind of unusual, but I just have to go with the flow!” said Ms. LeBeau. She has been working on two “series” of paintings this year. One of them is called the “windows to the world.” She states, “If you could place a window on your wall and have it open to your favorite place; that’s what I want to show.”
The other series is called “affirmations.” Every time the viewers see the painting, they are supposed to remind themselves of the joy of living. “So many people are stressed out because they keep repeating negative thoughts about themselves. If they would replace those with positive thoughts, their whole life could turn around. Mine did!”

Suzanne is the secretary for the Murfreesboro Art League.  She has a website "Ponderings" http://suzannelebeauartist.blogspot.com/  where you can see more of her work and writing.
