JUNE Newsletter
NOTE: The gallery is open to the public on Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and also still open on Monday nights 7:00 to 9:00 pm!  . The gates will be open for parking in the Cannonsburg Village on Monday nights.  Do not park on any sidewalk. Don’t park on the inner circle, so fire truck can get through. Don’t park past end of garden, so fire truck can get to the hydrant. Thanks!

>The Gallery is now open 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, and 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday.  Member Sign-up sheets available at Gallery!!  Our regular meeting nights are Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm – come join us.

> June 5th, 12th, & 19th - Water color art classes with Phyllis Razo on Monday, 7:00 – 9:00 pm.  Please bring to class water colors in tubes (cheap brands ok), rounds and flats in sizes #2, 6, & 8, water color paper (140 lb. cold pressed 9 x 12 –spiral ok– NO CASON – Prefer Strathmore wind power in pink & brown cover), a water soluble pen and paper towels.  Members attend free!!! Non-members 1st class is free and $15.00 afterward!  Come join us!  

 >Rotunda Exhibition (Civic Center site downtown): Exhibit is May 2nd to June 12th; Reception for the eleven artists is June 9th, 6:00-9:00 pm (Mark, Reba, Norma, Ted, Michael, Gloria, Bobbie, Suzanne, Phyllis, Katia, & Beverly). Rev. Newsom may play.  Take down afterwards or morning of June 12th, beginning at 10:00 am.  Postcard advertisements have been printed and are available to those exhibiting at Murfreesboro Art League Gallery.    Murfreesboro Art League Gallery will not be open the night of the Boro Art Crawl. -See postcard advertisement at top of page.
>Crawl the Mall 2017 for Southeast Nashville Artists at the Global Mall:  May 27th from 3:30 to 7:30 pm (if exhibiting, pickup at 7:30 pm promptly.

>The 2nd annual 2017 Smyrna Art Crawl is Friday, June 9th from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.  Drop off is Friday, May 26th or Saturday, May 27th between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm or Sunday, May 28th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Pickup is 9:00 to 9:30 pm after exhibit.

>The Great American Race day is on for June 26th- 10:30 am to 3 pm as requested by Cannonsburg Village.

>July 7 & 8, 2017 are the Uncle Dave Macon Days – anyone wishing to volunteer at the Gallery, please email Suzannelebeau@att.net  within the next few days as only ten spaces out of twenty remain open.  Empty slots are:  three on July 7, Friday from 4-8pm; one on July 8, Saturday from 10am-1pm; two on July 8, Saturday from 1-4 pm; and five on July 8, Saturday from 4-8 pm.

> Come join us at Summer Art Camp in July at the Murfreesboro Art League for rising 3rd graders.  July 10-14 and 17-21 is beginners weeks and July 24-28 is advanced week from 9 to noon. All supplies are included in the cost, along with a sketch book for each participant. Email suzanne.lebeau@att.net  for a registration form and/or drop by on Monday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Murfreesboro Art League’s Gallery at Cannonsburg.  SUZANNE STILL NEEDS SOMEONE TO HELP WITH CLASSES.
>Child Advocacy Center (615-867-9000 or jessicawauchek@bellsouth.net) is looking for Summer Santa Greeting Card artwork, reaching nearly 6,000. Deadline is June 1st.
>Murfreesboro Art League wants to wish Gloria Ardnt a speedy recovery.
>Life Care Center at Hickory Woods Art exhibit was a good-but participant down.
>Suzanne’s May acrylic classes were fun – they experimented with fluid paint and more!
>The Center for the Arts needs artists to display their art on June 9th, the Boro Art Crawl night.  If interested contact anna@borarts.org .
>Paint & demonstrate for camp at Oakland Mansion (see Mary Beth Neville) -June 7th-12th.

>Linebaugh Library Artists for the month of June is Ted, July is Reba, and August is Suzanne.
>Featured Artist at Gallery for June/July will be Phyllis Razo.
Dates to remember:
·          At Gallery:  June 5th, 12th, and 19th – Water Color classes with Phyllis Razo; June 26th is our monthly business meeting.

Future planned events:
>Children’s art classes-3rd grade and up for first 3 weeks of July- Beginners 1st & 2nd  and advanced 3rd weeks.
>Possible annual event with silent auction
>Plein air event next year – paint out and maybe chuck wagons??  It is planned for sometime in October of 2018 – we expect this to be fun – Phyllis Razo is in charge of this event planning.

upcoming art shows and deadlines



There are many artsy events coming up! This weekend is the Tennessee Craft Fair out at Centennial Park. It’s too late to ENTER for this one, but it’s fun to go browse! 

Also this Sunday in Murfreesboro is the Mid State Iris Association Show and Photo Contest: PhotographersPlease contact Andrew Buhler, Jr. at 931-552-7157 or andrew.buhler@jostens.com .  Bring your photo entries to the show during the hours when horticulture entries are accepted – Sunday, May 7, 2017, from 7am to 9am, CST, at Riverdale HS in Murfreesboro. This is fun to just go LOOK at the irises they have on display, too!

Then, we have deadlines coming up for several shows if you want to enter some of your art:
Smyrna has their Depot Arts Fest/art crawl on June 9. FREE! The deadline is This Saturday, May 6! http://www.depotdistrictartsfest.com/art-call/

Jerry’s Artarama is sponsoring another “Crawl the Mall” in Antioch.  Fee=$20 for 3. The deadline is actually May 13, not the 9th. http://www.nashville-jerrys.com/community

The Boro Art Crawl for June is accepting art through May 15. http://boroartcrawl.com/submissions/

The Customs House in Clarksville is currently accepting applications for its year-long program of temporary art displays. http://customshousemuseum.org/exhibits/call-to-artists .
