November/ December Newsletter

Upcoming classes:
Tommy Ellis – intermediate/advanced watercolors  Questions? Contact Tommy at 869-8195.
 This will be an 8-10 week session. Cost is $10 per class for members $15 for non-members.
It started Thursday November 11, 2010 from 6-8pm (We will break for Holidays)  However, you can contact Mr. Ellis if you want to join in.  He asks that you make a commitment up front.
Arlene Shoemaker – watercolor workshops will be starting Dec. 7 and run for 10 weeks. Call Arlene at 962-7837 for more information.  Cost is $20 per session.  Classes start at 10 am and run for 2 ½ hours.  You will be working on reflective surfaces from your own photos.
Claire Justine Smith - is teaching an abstract classes at The Attic beginning  Jan. 12, 2011, the class is for 10 weeks, the time of class is 1:00-4:00 pm.  Cost is $260.00. Please call Claire at 615-459-0943 for more info.
Other upcoming events:
Nov.  29 – Our 5th Monday “Snack and Share social will be held.  Bring some finger foods and come chat about artsy things.  You can bring recent works to show off, too!
Dec.  6 – We’ll have a drawing and drawing meeting.  WHAT?? You ask…  Well, we will set up some still life subjects for people to sketch.  We will also have at least 5 drawings for free paint/ supplies.  IMPORTANT:  We’d like the general membership to vote on a few matters at this meeting! 1) possibly raising dues to the following- individual = $45, but keep senior (60+) at $35;Student=$20; Family = $50; Lifetime membership = donation of $500  NOTE:  We need to do SOMETHING to help offset the cost of utilities and our liability insurance, as well as the cost of our teachers.  2) The board has recommended dropping the teacher pay back down to $25 until we are in better financial shape. 3) We have a new flier.
Dec. 11 is the Cannonsburgh Christmas from 1-4.  We need people to help serve cider and show off the gallery.
Dec. 13 is our Christmas party from 7-9.  Bring finger food, and if you want to participate in the gift exchange, bring a small work of your art.
General news:
·                     The recent candlelight tours went well.  Thanks to all who helped and/or participated!
·                     Contract:  Nothing is finalized on the contract, so any ideas are appreciated.  We will get a copy that can be perused and commented upon before things are finalized. 
·                     Treas. report:  We have $339.19 in the account and $6000 in a cd for emergencies.  We currently pay $237 per year for liability insurance.  Cannonsburgh has asked us to start paying $200 per MONTH for utilities.
·                     We will add Bobbie Bittner, Bobbie Ventura, Virginia Clark, and Debbie Turner Chavers to the board.
·                     “MAL Art League” is what we are listed in under  
This is a very professional site, and they will list individual artists as well.  Members need to check it out and sign up.
·                     REMEMBER:  Our new website is Bookmark the site and send us info on your events. 
·                     Phyllis Razo has an exhibit at the Linebaugh library and Jeff Mayfield has an exhibit at Stonecrest hospital.  Go check them out and support our fellow artists!
