Torn Paper Classes with Heloise Shilstat Supplies and examples:
What you will need:
clear Elmer's glue
mixed media paper (This is technique, and won't necessarily result in a picture. )
an old paintbrush for glue
a jar top for glue
small scissors if tearing paper is hard for you
I will have magazine paper.
There will be some members who want to do their own thing, but for those who want a class in paper mosaics, we are going to practice technique for a change.
Get a good look at a couple of kinds of tree bark. Sources can be the web, the library, a tree book (maybe), or REAL TREES.
Some suggestions are palm, willow, hickory, oak, birch, sycamore.
Using magazine paper, combine pieces of photos of fabric, carpet, concrete, etc. to replicate bark.
It is not fair to use pictures of trees to simulate bark! Use pieces of random size paper; bark isn't a solid plane. The best tree I have made had bark that was a sequined dress.
If this goes well, on the third night we will put a bird on your tree. It will not be fair to use photos of feathers unless they are obviously fake feathers.
it is ok if your bark and birds are MUCH BETTER than mine.
